The violin is less mysterious than most teaching makes it seem.

Here, the violin opens through understanding. You learn why a sound happens, how to shape it, and how to make it part of your body — until listening to your own sound becomes the way you teach yourself.

How theVIOLINcode teaches

I

Understanding, not imitation.

When you understand why a sound happens, you stop waiting to be corrected — you make a sound you understand, and can repeat on your own. The link between what your hands do and what your ears hear becomes visible. Even with a teacher beside you, the real teacher is your own ear, and your own heart: a pupil’s task, in the end, is to become their own teacher.

II

Melody leads, technique follows.

Technique isn’t drilled in isolation. It arrives when the music asks for it, which is the only time it makes sense.

III

The sound is the teacher.

Your ear tells you what’s working, moment to moment. Once you learn to listen, you carry your teacher with you.

Not sure where to begin?

New to the violin?

Start with Foundations — it covers everything that comes before a first song.

Already playing?

There are many songs in the collection. Choose the one you love, and the level that fits where you are — the early levels ask very little to begin, the higher ones will stretch you.

Want to work on one specific thing?

Go to Skills. You’ll be surprised how much you enjoy a technical exercise when it sounds like music.

The right level is the one where the music asks something of you, but doesn’t overwhelm you.
